After driving through volcanoes, pineapples fields, military checkpoints, jungles, beaches and mountains we are finally here: Lake Sebu. Obviously, I am exaggerating a bit. But, as you know, the Phillipines have all the things I mentioned. And more.<\/p>\n
Ok, lake Sebu – it is promoted as a great destination for the eco-friendly tourists. So don’t expect gigantic resorts and 15-star hotels here. It is more focused on symbiosis with the environment. And they should keep it that way. Just consider that lake Sebu is a major source of water used for irrigation in the surrounding areas.<\/p>\n
The lake is surrounded by mountains, which, in turn, are covered by jungle. A significant part of local population relies on people visiting the place. That’s why you can find many places that offer accommodation and food. And all of these things are significantly cheaper than on the islands north of Mindanao.<\/p>\n
The freshwater reservoir is extensively used for fishing. The most popular fish locally is tilapia.<\/p>\n
