Photographing around Tagaytay

Tagaytay: volcano has been hiked, the jigsaw puzzles have been completed. Time to take out the camera and take some photos in the area before leaving the city.

As you already know Tagaytay is located slightly higher than the rest of the country. Thanks to that it offers a moderate climate and is very popular with tourists. The proximity of Metro Manila means that it is a weekend destination for the locals escaping the heat.

Because of the mountainous terrain Tagaytay provides quite a few interesting vantage points. One of the most popular of these is People’s Park in the Sky. Here are some photos taken from there:

People’s Park is a good place to see the volcano.

In the center of the park there are some abandoned buildings. One of them was used as a radar station, the other one is an unfinished construction of a hilltop mansion (mind you, nothing like the Temple of Leah).

You can find one more thing on the top of the hill: a shrine.

As you can see from the photos above the sky was a bit dark and cloudy that day. That’s because it was raining in the area. This coupled with the fact that the sun was fairly low above the horizon produced the following phenomenon:

And I’m sure you know what is at the other side of the rainbow. It’s something that would significantly speed up my planning for a second trip to the Philippines: a pot of gold. I decided to give it a go and look for it. I even wanted to use this to get to the other end of the rainbow faster:

However, somebody must have been faster than me. Neither have I reached the other end of the rainbow nor have I spotted the pot of gold.

Supposed to be somewhere there….

To put it simply: the path was lost…
